Highland spirit was alive and well in the Colonnade Ballroom at the Equinox Resort for the Southern Vermont Arts Center’s biennial gala on December 6. Guests sporting kilts, tuxedos, gowns and tartan flair enjoyed lively music from big band Brass-O’-Mania, and were invited to participate in a benefit auction of exclusive, generously donated prizes including a day of flying with lunch at the Basin Harbor Club with actor and newest board member Treat Williams, a trip to New York City with a personal behind-the-scenes tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a week-long stay at a Nantucket cottage and other prizes. The benefit raised proceeds to support the Arts Center’s artist exhibitions, performing arts events and workshops and established a scholarship program to support children in the Northshire.

“We are thrilled about the generous support we received. It will enable us to offer the camp experience to children who may not have the opportunity otherwise. We believe supporting art education is a vital contributor to a rich and vibrant society,” said SVAC Executive Director, Seline Skoug. The event was made possible by the support of generous individuals and local sponsors including the Weinstein Group P.C.; W.H. Shaw Insurance; Southwestern Vermont Health Care; Bennington Cooling and Heating; Landscape Construction; Orvis; Witten, Woolmington, Campbell & Bernal, P.C.; Arlington Equine; and Blue Flame Gas Company.

The Southern Vermont Arts Center, located at West Road, Manchester, Vermont, is dedicated to making both the visual and performing arts an integral part of the life of its community and the region. For information, call 802-362-1405 or visit svac.org.
