A Taste of the Season Offered on Dorset’s Village Green
Mounds of pumpkins and gourds adorn the Dorset Union Store and the neighboring Three Pears Gallery, whose proprietors are co-hosting a Harvest Event on Saturday and Sunday of Columbus weekend, October 10 and 11. The two businesses are decked out to celebrate the specialty foods of Vermont, as well as art for the season; there’s a mound of a 100 pumpkins and gourds in front of the gallery; outside the store, there’s an 350- pound pumpkin, grown by the Dorset Field Club’s golf pro. The Dorset Union Store, a source of local pride since 1816, is sharing special tastings: Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., sample Suss Hand-Made Caramels and Small Batch Granola; on Sunday, come taste Tall Cat Coffee, Gringo Jack’s salsa and chips, and Woodcock Farm cheese.
Next door, Three Pears Gallery is decked out in a lush garland and pumpkins and gourds, and will feature a seasonally-themed collection of miniature oil paintings of gourds, fruits and vegetables, whimsical prints of harvest yield, and traditional, painterly renditions of autumn barns. Jennifer Redding Events and Floristry’s exquisite blooms and arrangements, grown from Jennifer’s own farm garden, are on display inside. Complimentary warm cider, craft beer, specialties, cookies and Dutton Farmstand apples will be offered on Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will take place rain or shine.
