‘A Very Different Beauty Pageant.’

On Sunday September 8, twelve brave men will squeeze themselves into high-heeled shoes and gowns to raise funds for Neighbor to Neighbor. The pageant, dubbed ‘Men in Pumps,’ will be held at the Dorset Playhouse. The event begins in the café at 3, with a reception of wine, cheese, light hors d’oeuvres and chocolates. The pageant begins at 4.

Our ‘ladies’ will have the opportunity to showcase their unique and creative talents, from the Dorset Supremes and Julia Child, to tap-dancing divas. Contestants will answer questions by the judges and compete in the graceful and elegant Evening Gown category. The judges will crown the winner ‘Miss He’s a Lady.’ Tickets are $20, available at the Neighbor to Neighbor office, 802-367-7787. A limited number of tickets will also be sold at the door.

‘Men in Pumps’ is co-sponsored by the Weinstein Group, PC, the Vermont Country Store, rk Miles and Manchester Discount Beverage.

Neighbor to Neighbor offers our care recipients volunteer services such as friendly visits, help with food shopping or errands, and medical transportation. Our goal is to offer assistance that helps our older or house-bound neighbors remain independent and in their own home for as long as possible. In addition, Neighbor to Neighbor offers social events that keep people connected to each other and the community at large.
