Adopt a Shelter Dog
Can you open your heart and home to a wet nose and wagging tail? October is national Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog-Month, and Berkshire Humane Society (BHS) is celebrating! We are overflowing with wonderful dogs – young and old, small and large, and everything in between – looking for a second chance and a forever home.
At BHS, all dogs are special, so the shelter is offering some specials to promote their adoption. Because the ‘Choose Your Adoption Fee’ program has been so popular, they’re extending it through October. For dogs or cats who have been at BHS for 30 days or longer, you decide what you’d like to donate for their adoption fee. Then there’s the ‘Senior to Senior’ program which places dogs over 7 years old with senior citizens over 60 for a reduced adoption fee. All dogs leave BHS with appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, dewormed, micro-chipped, and more. If you adopt a dog during October, you’ll receive a free engraved name tag and be entered in a raffle for a basket of dog goodies.
BHS will also be offering micro-chip clinics in Berkshire County throughout October. The cost is $20 and includes registration with ‘24 Pet Watch,’ BHS’s micro-chip supplier; check our website for dates and locations. Stop by the shelter at 214 Barker Road in Pittsfield, Mass., or visit berkshirehumane.org.
