Arlington Author Eric Rickstad Releases New Novel
Eric Rickstad of Arlington announces that his new literary psychological thriller, ‘Lie in Wait’ is due to be released on September 1 from HarperCollins in ebook and on February 2 in trade paperback. Rickstad’s work has been praised for its character development, Gothic literary style, page-turning suspense and jaw-dropping twists. While Rickstad sets his novels in a fictionalized version of the Northeast Kingdom’s town of Canaan, residents of this region are sure to recognize local locales, place names and influences mixed in the novel. His previous novel, ‘The Silent Girls,’ became a New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller just weeks after publication in paperback this past January, and has become an international hit, to be translated in four foreign languages.
Rickstad is excited his novels are reaching readers across the globe, and is pleased the new ebook-first model has helped achieve this. The model allows publishers and bookstores to gauge more accurately how many paperbacks and hard covers to publish and to stock. While it’s a thrill for Rickstad to know his novels now appear in the windows of London’s Waterstones bookstore, in Barnes & Noble across North America, or at the front of the major drugstore chains in Canada, his biggest thrill is to see his books in his favorite Vermont bookshops. “That was the dream, when I was writing and not getting published. To go into small Vermont bookshops to buy books and imagine my books among them, waiting for readers to buy and, hopefully, to enjoy. It will always be the dream,” Rickstad said.
