Art at the Dorset Library

The featured artists at the Dorset Public Library during the month of May will be Lauryn Axelrod, her collaborator Lara Bitler, and Robert Birbeck. The public is invited to meet Lara and Robert at the opening reception on Saturday, May 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Based in West Pawlet, Axelrod is a ceramic artist whose award-winning work is collected nationally and internationally, and has been featured in numerous juried and invitational exhibitions. Her works are for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the library. Birbeck is a sculptor and painter from Wells, who will be showcasing a series of pencil drawings featuring actors who portray characters in various PBS Masterpiece Mystery programs; his work is not for sale. (There will also be a coordinating display of the library’s DVDs featuring some of the programs in Robert’s drawings.)  Bitler, an avid hunter and firearms enthusiast, currently lives in Poultney  and collaborates with Axelrod. The Dorset Public Library is located on Route 30 in Dorset Village. Hours are Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 802-867-5774 for more information.
