Art from the Schools
‘Art from the Schools’ at Southern Vermont Arts Center is a celebration of student art from over 20 area schools, filling the galleries with vibrant color. The show opens on Saturday, April 28, with the Young Picassos Pizza Party from 12 to 2 p.m. Come celebrate the creativity of students from Pre-K through 12th grade, and enjoy live music provided by the Long Trail School band, art stations, food and treats. The event is free and open to the public. The 2018 exhibitors are Arlington Memorial Middle High School, BBA, Dorset School, Fisher Elementary, Floodbrook Union, Red Fox Community, Grace Christian, Happy Days Playschool, Home Away from Home, Homeschools, LiHigh, Long Trail, Maple Street, MEMS, Mettawee Community School, Mountain School of Winhall, Northshire Day, Shaftsbury Elementary, Stratton Mountain School, Sunderland Elementary, SVSU Bennington E.C., The Village School in North Bennington, Vermont Arts Exchange and Vermont Academy.
Established in 1922, Southern Vermont Arts Center is a regional hub of cultural, educational and creative activity, located off West Road in Manchester on over 100 acres. SVAC features an active, rotating calendar of member and guest arts exhibitions and classes for all ages. Its major facilities are Yester House Gallery, built in 1917; the contemporary Elizabeth de C. Wilson Museum, one of the East Coast’s finest exhibition spaces outside a major city; the Hay Madeira Education Center Studios; and the 400-seat Arkell Pavilion; as well as a sprawling Sculpture Park, the largest in Vermont.
