Artscape Issues Call for Artists
Artscape, a public art program in Pittsfield, Mass., has issued a call for artists for the 2016-17 season. The program, which installs sculptures throughout the city’s Upstreet cultural district, is open to local, national and international artists. ‘In Motion: Pittsfield’ is this year’s theme. Out-of-the-box, diverse works are encouraged. Applicants are not bound to comply with the theme, but are encouraged to consider it conceptually. Proposals will be juried by the Artscape Committee composed of artists, arts administrators and community members. Some technical assistance, approved by the Artscape committee on a project-by-project basis, may be provided to install work. Artists whose work is accepted are granted financial support in the amount of $500. One sculpture will be chosen for an additional $500 award under the theme, for a total $1,000 honorarium. Applications can be submitted online, thanks to the support of the Berkshire Art Association. Background information, a brochure of the current installation and submission forms are available at cityofpittsfield.org. Printed copies are available from Rebecca Manship in the Office of Community Development at firstname.lastname@example.org. Completed proposals must be received by 4 p.m. on November 20, 2015 or by 11:59 p.m. online.
