Barbershop Quartet, Jazz Café at Slate Valley Arts

Stone Valley Arts at Fox Hill (SVA) is hosting a free concert by the Dorset Barbecue Quartet beginning at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 1. The Quartet, which aspires to the level of excellence of the Yale Whiffenpoofs, is composed of Richard Grip, David Chandler, Henry Chandler and Roger Squire. They perform classic barbershop harmonies from a bygone era, as well as more recent tunes.

On Friday, September 6, SVA’s free monthly First Friday Jazz Cafe will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. All are welcome to come hear Gary Schmidt on piano, Harry Drum on tenor sax and Dan Notto on guitar with vocalist Don DiChiara performing jazz standards in a relaxed, café-style setting. A table of tapas and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available at no charge. This is a great way to enjoy a relaxed evening of food, music and a chance to get up and dance.

SVA is located at 145 East Main Street in Poultney, acorss from the high school. For details, call 802-325-2603 or visit stonevalleyarts.org.
