Battenkill Grange Delivers Dictionaries to Students
In today’s high-tech world, you wouldn’t think a paperback dictionary could cause a stir, but it does for third graders at Fisher Elementary School.
Each year, the students look forward to Dictionary Day, when members of Arlington Battenkill Grange 487 deliver the brand-new books. Grange members Nathalie Caler and Lillian Wood distributed the dictionaries to the students, and invited them to bring their families to a Grange monthly breakfast.
Fisher Elementary third grade teacher Charlie Cummings said that the books are more than just a way to check spelling.
“These dictionaries are like mini-encyclopedias. The kids love them. Students take out their dictionaries just for a fun read whenever they can. It’s a great gift and a great way for our students to learn more about the Grange.”
