Hoosick, N.Y. hosts a reenactment of the 237th anniversary of the Battle of Bennington.

The Brigade of the American Revolution will be hosting the 237th anniversary of the Battle of Bennington on Saturday and Sunday, August 16 and 17, at the Bennington Battlefield State Historic Site in Hoosick, N.Y. The original battle was on August 16, and since that date falls on a Saturday this year, major portions of the battle will be commemorated at the same time and close to the same places they occurred, with authentically attired and equipped living history enthusiasts, who will bring to life the pivotal actions that took place 237 years ago. German, British and Loyalist troops and those representing rebel troops under General John Stark will be encamped on the grounds at Barnett Homestead. A full and exciting weekend of activities is scheduled. Visitors are encouraged to tour the camps and experience the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the year 1777, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Some activities will take place at the Barnett House on Caretaker Road in Hoosick, while others are located at the top of the hill looking out over the historic site on the north side of Route 67. Visit nysparks.com/events for a full schedule.
