The sophmore class at Burr and Burton Academy spend time last week at various locations doing community service projects, including at Hapgood Pond in Peru, Merck Forest and Farm Center in Rupert, and with the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps doing trail building in the Green Mountain National Forest. They also worked on sprucing  up a little-known historic building in the Village, the former engine house which housed ‘Little Eli,’ a rare, hand-pumped fire engine used in the 1890s, preserved and now held by the Manchester Historical Society .
