Beer & Hymns & Showtunes, Too
Zion Lutheran Church of Pittsfield hosts Beer and Hymns and Showtunes on Thursday, May 8, at 7 p.m., in the back room of Baba Louie’s Pizza, 34 Depot Street, Pittsfield, Mass. This marks the fourth installment of Zion Lutheran’s increasingly-popular series of community Beer and Hymns sing-alongs, which gathers lots of people together in a non-church space for a loud and lively night of popular hymns and songs. The group will be invited to call out favorite showtunes to sing as well. The musicians for the evening will play songs from ‘The Sound of Music’ and ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ as well as well-known jazz standards like ‘What a Wonderful World.’ Leading the evening will be pianists Timothy Weisman, Andy Barnett, and Amy Renak, as well as Andy Wrba, string bass, and Bill Chapman, drums.
Beer, wine, a variety of non-alcoholic beverages, and Baba Louie’s menu items will be available for purchase. Everyone is welcome; there is no admission fee. A free-will offering will be taken to support the Pittsfield Area Council of Congregations Emergency Fuel Fund.
Over $1,000 has been raised at Beer and Hymns events to help PACC purchase fuel oil for those in need.
