Gardeners rejoice! It’s the season for plant sales. The ladies here are promoting one taking place at Second Congregational Church in Benningon. Read below for the details on it – and some others, too.

Gardeners rejoice! It’s the season for plant sales. The ladies here are promoting one taking place at Second Congregational Church in Benningon. Read below for the details on it – and some others, too.

Bennington Plant Sale

The Second Congregational Church, UCC at 115 Hillside Street, Bennington, is hosting their Not-Always-Annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be a wide variety of hardy perennials which have been grown locally in members’ gardens, a raffle for a basket of gardening supplies and recipes, and samples of organic insecticides and repellents. Manchester Plant Sale

Don’t miss the Garden Club of Manchester’s annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine. This event will be held at Northshire Day School, located at 5484 Main Street/Route 7A in Manchester Center. Hardy perennials, geraniums, marigolds and a few vegetable plants, will be for sale at very reasonable prices (half price at noon!) along with all things gardening – tools, pots, books, ornaments. New this year will be a sale of baked goods. All proceeds fund the Club’s civic beautification projects and scholarship program. Rupert Plant Sale

The Rupert Kittay Library’s Plant Sale will be taking place on Saturday, May 19,  from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetables. The locally-grown plants will be available in pots, six-packs and hanging baskets. If your garden has produced more perennials than you need, they will be happy to add them to the sale. Please label them and bring to the Library from May 16 to 18. This fundraising event contributes to the many free programs at the Kittay Library, located at 2827 Route 153 in the center of Rupert. Wallingford Plant/Book/Bake Sale

The Friends of Gilbert Hart Library will hold its annual Plant/Book/Bake sale on Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Llibrary on Main Street in Wallingford. There will be locally grown plants for your garden, books for summer reading and delicious homemade treats. Stop at the front desk to see their Spring Garden Basket. Raffle tickets are $5 each and only 100 will be sold. Call 802-446-2685 for details.
