Bennington Sun & Fun Festival to Feature Music, Activities
The Second Congregational Church of Bennington and Solar Pro of Arlington co-host the second annual Sun and Fun Festival on Saturday, August 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event celebrates the environment and community with live music by the Hale Mountain Pickers. Kids’ activities include face painting, giant bubble making, parachute games, a scavenger hunt and more. A quiet room will be available for any kids who need it. All are invited to help paint a giant mural. An Adult Story Telling Hour, much like NPR’s ‘The Moth,’ will begin at 11 a.m. At 12 noon there will be a demonstration on how to build your own back yard compost system, taught by a Master Composter. Visitors are encouraged to bring their kitchen food scraps (no meat or dairy). At 1 p.m., there will be a solar forum with panel members discussing feasibility, set-up, financing and more. Local food prepared by local chefs will be available; kids under age ten eat for free. The first 100 visitors will receive a free gift, and there will be drawings every half hour for prizes, culminating with two grand prizes at the end of the day. Admission is free and the event, held at the Church, 115 Hillside Street, Bennington, will be held rain or shine. For more information, contact Kathleen Shaw at firstname.lastname@example.org.
