Bennington’s Hometown Holiday
Downtown Bennington celebrates Small Business Saturday on November 28. Dubbed ‘Our Hometown Holiday,’ it will be a day to enjoy the sights and sounds of the season with strolling carolers, holiday-decorated streets, live performances and in-store activities while supporting locally-owned businesses. There will be special performances, the Bennington Farmers’ Market, free gift wrapping, hot chocolate, homemade treats and more throughout the day. Discover hidden treasures not found in a mall and catch up with friends and neighbors as you amble between Bennington’s bookshop, confectioners, country store, bakery, florist, clothiers, galleries and antique shops. The Festival of Trees at The Bennington Museum takes place from November 27 to December 29, displaying unique Christmas trees among the regular exhibits; start the season with laughter at the Black Friday Comedy Show at Mount Anthony Country Club on November 27 at 8:30 p.m.; the Bennington Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Vermont Veterans Home will offer live entertainment on Wednesday, December 2, at 5:30 p.m.; Oldcastle Theatre will present a special production of the beloved classic, ‘A Christmas Carol’ on Saturday, December 5; Bennington Arts Guild offers the chance to design and make your own ornament or decoration with 3D printing, from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 5; Bennington Museum’s Holiday Gala is the event of the season, and takes place on Saturday, December 5, from 6 to 10 p.m.; the Second Congregational Church will hold its Snowball Bazaar on Friday, December 4, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, December 5, from 9:30 to 3 p.m.; Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales will offer Breakfast with Saint Nicholas on Sunday, December 6, at 8 a.m., while Mount Anthony Country Club hosts Brunch with Santa from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Reservations are highly recommended); Bennington Museum’s Family Day and Children’s Shopping Day is planned for Saturday, December 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering visits with Santa, a book signing with Will Moses, a children’s shopping gallery and more; the 75th annual Christmas Tea at Saint Peter’s Church will take place on December 12 from 3 to 5:30 p.m., offering a formal tea service, live music, baked items and specialty gifts for purchase; the Biggest Little Christmas Party with dinner and dancing at Mount Anthony Country Club will happen on December 12 at 7:30 p.m.; an ‘Old Fashioned Holiday Radio Show,’ a live radio broadcast hosted by WBTN is scheduled at Oldcastle Theatre for Saturday, December 19; and wrapping up the holiday season, Mount Anthony Country Club will throw a New Year’s Eve Gala with live entertainment starting at 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 31.
