Blue Flames, Gypsy Reel in Weston
Two of the area’s best known and most popular musical groups, the Blue Flames and Gypsy Reel, will perform a doubleheader of late afternoon concerts on the Weston Green over Labor Day Weekend. Weston’s Farrar Park Association, otherwise known as ‘The Ladies of the Green’, is celebrating its 127th anniversary this year by presenting the 4th annual Concert by the Blue Flames on Friday, August 30, 5 to 7. This concert was rescheduled after being rained out on August 9. Everyone is invited to enjoy live music by the Blue Flames steel band, to savor tasty hors d’oeuvres and take a chance on winning raffle prizes. On Monday, September 2, 4 to 6, the Weston Community Association will present the third annual Labor Day concert with Gypsy Reel’s mixture of Celtic tunes, folk-rock and music from around the world. Both concerts are free. There is a raffle Friday, with prizes donated by the Weston Business Council and others. On Monday, free-will donations will be accepted. Proceeds go to the Farrar Park Association for the preservation of Farrar Park, also known as the Weston Green.
