Bow Thayer, Perfect Trainwreck Headline at Okemo
Bow Thayer & Perfect Trainwreck will perform a free concert as part of The Springfield Medical Care Systems Summer Music Series at Jackson Gore on Friday, August 23.
Bow Thayer made a name for himself in Boston with 7 League Boots, a rock/reggae band that shared the stage with the likes of Fugazi, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Pearl Jam. Fifteen years ago he made a life-altering decision to leave the city for the Green Mountains of Vermont. It was there that he explored the Delta blues, playing slide guitar for the original Elbow and he began a relationship with the banjo with the bluegrass group, The Benders. His current group Bow Thayer & Perfect Trainwreck are forging new sonic frontiers playing with such music luminaries as Levon Helm, John Hiatt, Booker T, and Ringo Starr.
On Friday nights throughout the summer season, the lawn in the courtyard at Okemo’s Jackson Gore Inn is transformed into an outdoor concert venue featuring popular local and regional entertainers. Admission to the concert is free. The grounds open at 5; music runs from 6 to 9. Families are welcome and all attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. In case of rain, the concerts will move indoors.
