Bread and Puppet Theater at MAU
To celebrate its new name, the Greater Bennington Peace and Justice Center, formerly known as the Peace Resource Center, invites the community to a special performance of the Bread and Puppet Theater. The event will take place at the Mount Anthony Union Middle School on Saturday, December 7, at 5 p.m. Admission is free but donations will be gratefully accepted.
Renowned for its lampooning of federal government policies and actions through the use of giant puppets and costumed actors, the Bread and Puppet performance, titled ‘Total This and That Circus’ will include some elements of daffodil combat forces battling F-35s, the miraculous birth of a calf, a giant face trying to see who’s running back and forth between his ears, the tar sands pipeline, some very tall people with wooden legs, all kinds of animals from zebras to some very interfering turkeys and more, accompanied by the circus band.
The Greater Bennington Peace and Justice Center works cooperatively with its members and partners to advance peacemaking locally and globally, build understanding and solidarity and support peace-building economies. The group meets on the first Thursday of each month at the Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse at 108 School Street in Bennington.
