Drum Journeys of Earth will hold a Halloween Parade planning meeting on Saturday, September 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Rhythm Hall on the second floor of Building Five in the Howe Center at 1 Scale Avenue, Rutland. Drum Journeys of Earth and its students are widely known for leading the Rutland Halloween Parade as the Drumming Skeletons. You don’t need any prior experience to join the group – if you can walk, you can be part of this parade. For those with special skills, they specifically need carpenters, lighting pros, seamstresses, artists and more. For this year’s special floor show, they also need jugglers, magicians, rollerbladers/skaters, stilt walkers, firebreathers, unicyclists, puppeteers and more. If you have a special talent, join the planning meeting, or contact Gary Meitrott at 802-282- 2581, or garymeitrott@vermontel.net. Drum Journeys of Earth offers a variety of ethnic drum and percussion in the Rutland area, including West African djembe, Afro-Cuban conga, Middle Eastern doumbek, Brazilian samba, body and trash percussion and hand drumming.
