Cameron to Address Climate Change & Human Rights
Dr. Edward Cameron, renowned specialist on climate change, will be speaking at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert in Dorset Village at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 9. He will speak on the interface between climate change and human rights, providing guidance on how our community can advance social and environmental justice at home, across the state and throughout the nation, in conjunction with the 70th anniversary this month of the UN Declaration on Human Rights. In addition to being an expert on climate change, Dr. Cameron has worked on human rights and economic development for over 20 years at the UN, the World Bank, with nonprofits, international governments, and as advisor to scores of corporations in the United States and worldwide. His work focuses on reducing the greenhouse gas pollution that is changing the global climate while building climate resilience in the face of climate risk. He has created comprehensive plans for many of the world’s leading multinational corporations and has helped to shape public policy across the globe, notably including the landmark Paris Agreement in 2015. The community is invited to attend this important and informative discussion.
