Casting Call for ‘Othello’
Shakespeare on Main Street is holding a Casting Call for its Summer 2014 production of ‘Othello.’ Set in 2012, amidst the political turmoil of the mideast, this production will use contemporary events as a mirror for Shakespeare’s medieval drama. Under Gary Meitrott’s direction, this breakthrough version of ‘Othello’ is certain to be the highlight of Vermont’s upcoming theatre season. Come and expand your scope as an actor in this exciting production. Actors 18 years of age and over wanting to audition should prepare a one-minute monologue from ‘Othello.’ It does not need to be memorized, just well prepared. Auditions will be held in Rutland on Saturday, January 11, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Rhythm Hall, second floor of Building 5, Howe Center; Poultney on Sunday, January 12, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., third floor of the Stone Valley Art Center’s Press Building; Manchester on Saturday, January 18, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (or, in case of snow, January 25) at the Rec Center; and Brandon, Sunday, January 19, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Brandon Town Hall.
Call backs will be on February 1, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in Rhythm Hall. Rehearsals begin June 22, and the first performance will be July 25.
