Children’s Comfort Blanket Project

The Maple Leaf Quilters Guild recently announced a new initiative, the children’s comfort blanket project. Donations of new, homemade blankets are needed for children who are sick, traumatized or needy. Blankets may be quilted, knit, crocheted or made of fleece, in sizes suitable from infants to teens.

“We want to wrap these children in warmth and love” Kathy Budd, chairperson of the project said. “There are many, many children who need our help in the Rutland County area, more than our Guild can make blankets for.” It is estimated that 350 to 450 blankets could be distributed over the next year. For information about Maple Leaf Quilters comfort blankets project, contact Kathy Budd at 802-438-5180. Donations may be taken to any Guild meeting or to drop-off sites at Viking Sewing Gallery at JoAnn Fabrics in Rutland or the Quilter’s Corner at Middlebury Sew n’ Vac in Middlebury, Vt.
