Collaborative to Host the Learning Kitchen

The Collaborative is hosting the Learning Kitchen at Flood Brook School, a series of cooking classes sponsored by Hunger Free Vermont. This six-week program combines hands-on cooking with nutrition education. Homemade pizza was on the menu for the first week; kids enjoyed using their hands to knead a chewy whole-wheat crust. After cooking and tasting foods in class, participants are sent home with a goodie bag, encouraging them to share what they have learned with their families and incorporate healthy food choices into their daily routine. In the coming weeks, youth will work toward earning their own set of measuring cups and spoons to practice their new skills after the series has ended. The Collaborative would like to thank community volunteer Heather Borhek for helping teach the kids and local sponsor Clark’s Quality Foods for their generous donation to the program.
