Community Assets Workshop
A village and town revitalization workshop will be held at 6:30 on Tuesday, September 10, at the Park House, Dana Thompson Memorial Park in Manchester Center. Presented by the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation, Windham Regional Commission, and Bennington County Regional Commission, the workshop will focus on strengthening and improving downtown and village center economic assets and fulfilling their broadest market potential. This workshop is open to anyone interested in creating a more vibrant village or town center economy. Presenters will include Caitlin Corkins, Tax Credits and Grants Coordinator, Agency of Commerce and Community Development, and Cullen Meves, Planner, Sustainable Community Development, Windham Commission. The presentations will cover how to perform a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats assessment, benefits of historic tax credits and the assets of historic buildings. Katie Buckley, Guilford Town Administrator, and Fred Humphrey, will share their experiences in defining and building community assets for the Algiers Village Project.
This Workshop is the third in a series of six exciting village and town revitalization workshops held in Windham and Bennington Counties until March, 2014. Through these interactive forums community members will learn about reinvigorating their villages and towns through public and private partnerships, building on community assets, design approaches, implementation strategies and village and town promotion.
