Arlington Garden Club

The Arlington Garden Club will hold their monthly meeting at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, at Rogerland in  East Arlington.  Photographer Matt Lerman will be speaker. The club will enjoy lunch and a tour hosted by Roger Cooper and Kathy Cotrofeld. Adoniram Eastern Star to Meet

Adoniram Chapter 22, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet on Tuesday, August 16, at the Masonic Temple on Spruce Street in Manchester. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. before the meeting at 7:30. The annual picnic with the Lodge will be held on Friday, August 12, starting at 5 p.m.; bring a side dish to share. Garden Club of Manchester

The Garden Club of Manchester presents ‘Japan from Tokyo to Hiroshima’ at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, at the Manchester Community Library. Garden Club member Hoa Campbell and her husband Orland visited Japan in 2014. Orland will present a pictorial tour of temples and gardens from Tokyo to Hiroshima and answer any questions about their visit.

Cook by the Book Club

The Cook by the Book Discussion Group will next meet at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, at the Manchester Community Library. Cookbook enthusiasts will discuss their favorite cookbooks and learn about new books and cooking trends. The group is led by Lily Van Haverbeke. Participation is free and open to the public. Arlington Jam

Arlington’s West Mountain Inn will hold another of its live MUSIC JAMs on Wednesday, August 10, from 6:30 to 8:30  p.m. There is no cover charge. For more information, call  802-375-6516.

Rutland Fiddle Jam

A fiddle jam will be held Wednesday, August 10, at the Godnick Adult Center in Rutland from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. The jam welcomes fiddlers, players of acoustic instruments and listeners. Donations are welcome. For further information, visit

Veterans Hall Open House

There will be an Open House on  Sunday, August 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Veterans Hall at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds, 69 Stillwater Bridge Road, Schaghticoke, N.Y. The Veterans Hall is run by a group of volunteers who feel passionate about honoring honors all Veterans past and present. They are compiling a list of veteran’s names from Rensselaer, Saratoga and Washington Counties; getting your veteran’s name on the list is free, easy and a good way to ensure his/her service will be remembered.
