Friends of the Dorset Quarry are holding a concert to celebrate the local swimming hole and bring attention to some of its unique concerns.

The Dorset Chamber of Commerce and the Friends of the Quarry are sponsoring a free concert at the Dorset Quarry on Saturday, July 30, with the Don’t Leave Band and special guests, The Dorset BBQ Barbershop Quartert. The concert is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. “We are very grateful to Dick and Kirsten McDonough for allowing us to stage this concert on their property,” said Roger Squire, president of the Dorset Chamber of Commerce. “People from all parts of the country and around the world come to the quarry to swim and admire its beautiful setting. Most of them don’t realize they are on private property.” Nan-Z, whose hotdogs, brats and sausages have delighted locals and visitors for over 25 years, will set up her cart at the quarry for the concert.

Friends of the Quarry, a group of local volunteers who help to remove litter from the site, asks quarry users to take out whatever they bring to the property. Signs at the quarry remind visitors that alcohol is not permitted. For information, call the Dorset Chamber of Commerce at 802-440- 0455 or visit Friends of the Dorset Quarry on facebook.
