Discover Dorset Fall Festival
Art, history and local food will be celebrated at the Discover Dorset Fall Festival the weekend of September 7 and 8. Over two dozen events will take place in and around Dorset, including a scavenger hunt, a mountain biking tour, children’s games, cooking and gardening demonstrations, a firehouse breakfast, and a concert on the Green with Gold Town. Spend a leisurely fall weekend exploring this picture-perfect Vermont town. Well known for its classical New England architecture and breathtaking setting, Dorset is home to a number of excellent restaurants, elegant small inns, galleries and shops, perfect for a getaway weekend. Art lovers will delight in the art show ‘Dorset Artists Then and Now’ and studio open houses. A Vermont cheese-tasting will be hosted by the Dorset Inn, a pastry chef will answer all your questions about making the perfect pie crust at J.K. Adams Kitchen Store and West View Farm’s Chef Ray Chen will demonstrate techniques for smoking meats. Mettowee Mill Nursery and Landscaping will be celebrating its 40th year that Saturday with speakers, demonstrations, and drawings. The Dorset Historical Society will demonstrate how to make apple cider using an antique cider press. On Saturday evening, the celebrated local bluegrass band Gold Town will be playing their foot-stomping favorites. Concertgoers are invited to bring a picnic supper to enjoy during the concert on the green, 7 to 10 p.m.
“We are looking forward to welcoming friends old and new,” said Roger Squire, one of the organizers of the festival. “Discover Dorset will be an exciting and eventful weekend with something for everyone.” For a complete listing of events, visit dorsetvt.com.
