Dorset Players Announce Auditons for Holiday Show
The Dorset Players’ holiday production will be a charming stage rendering of Barbara Robinson’s children’s classic, ‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.’ Performances will be held on December 4 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. and on December 5, 6, 12 and 13 at 2:00 p.m.
The Herdman kids, the nastiest urchins imaginable, have taken this year’s Christmas pageant by storm. When the story of the Nativity is read to them, however, the Herdman brats are genuinely moved, and in the end, against all odds, the production becomes the best Christmas pageant ever. In the meantime, of course, all heck breaks loose!
There are roles, large and small, for approximately 25 children, ages 7 to 14. Also, there will be parts for four men and six women. In addition to the Herdman clan (Imogene, Ralph, Leroy, Claude, Ollie and Gladys), among those drafted into the annual pageant are Elmer Hopkins, who is more than happy not to be Joseph this time, and Alice Wendleken, who is miffed to no end that she is not playing Mary this year and lets everyone know it.
Director Kevin O’Toole and musical director Michael Gallagher will hold auditions for the show on Monday and Wednesday, October 12 and 14, at 7 p.m. at the Dorset Playhouse, Cheney Road, Dorset. Only girls auditioning for roles in the Angel Choir will be ask to sing at the auditions. It is not necessary to attend both sessions. Note that children ages six and under will not be considered. For details, call Kevin O’Toole at 802-867-5711.
