The historic Dorset Playhouse is aging and in need of some repair.

Join the Dorset Players in celebrating 90 years of community theater at the Dorset Inn on Friday, June 1, when they hold their fundraising dinner and silent auction. The evening will start at 6 p.m. with music and entertainment as well as an assortment of hors d’oeuvres as guests survey the items offered for auction. The five-course dinner will continue with soup, salad, filet mignon and lobster ravioli, vegetable and potato, and beer and wine throughout the evening. Vegetarian, gluten free or other dietary accommodations will be available. The event will conclude with a dessert buffet and special performances. Tickets are $100 per person; seating is limited. Call 802-867-5570 for tickets. If you are unable to join them, but would like to make a donation to their building fund, you can do so at dorsetplayers.org. The Dorset Playhouse has been an important part of the community throughout the years, providing residents and visitors, members and patrons with exposure to the arts through an annual season of enriching performances, workshops, children’s theater – and with space for local schools, neighborhood gatherings and much more. The Dorset Players’ goal is to continue to bring quality live theater and programs for years to come. Your support will not only help them to succeed in their mission to provide a place to experience the arts; you will also invest in the economy of the local area. You are encouraged to attend this special event to support them in their efforts to complete the repairs that are needed, as well as update and maintain the landmark building – an historic, renovated barn – located on Cheney Lane in Dorset Village.
