Iren Hangen-Vazquez

Sixth grader Iren Hangen-Vazquez won the Dorset School’s Geo Bee competition, answering dozens of geography questions to top 18 other Middle School students to become champion. She will be competing in the Vermont State competition on April 1 against approximately 75 students in grades four to eight. The winner from each state is qualified to compete in the National Geographic Bee Championship held in Washington, DC in May, where the first place winner will receive a $50,000 college scholarship, a lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society and a trip to the Galápagos Islands.
