Meals on Wheels

The weekly menu for Bennington County Meals on Wheels: Tuesday, June 5: Ground Beef Stroganoff, Egg Noodles, Broccoli and Carrots, Tomato Parms, Whole Wheat Bread, Cookie. Wednesday, June 6: French Toast Bake, Fresh Strawberries, Baked Apples, Turkey Sausage, Peach Yogurt. Thursday, June 7: Thai Peanut Chicken, Sesame Noodles, Asian Pineapple Slaw, Fortune Cookie, Fruit Jell-O. Friday, June 8: Barbecued Pulled Pork Sandwich, Dilled Carrots, Parslied Potatoes, Orange Wedge. Monday, June 11: Split Pea and Ham Soup, Fresh Mixed Vegetables, Cheddar Biscuit, Mixed Fruit Cup, Vanilla Yogurt. Tuesday, June 12: Beef Enchilada Bake, Pineapple Salsa, Mexican Cabbage, Black Bean and Corn Salad, Mandarin Oranges. Menu is subject to change. The Meals on Wheels Bennington Café is located 124 Pleasant Street in Bennington. Join them for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. for only $3.50 suggested donation for people 60 and over, $5 for under age 60. For more information, call 802-442-8012.

Thursday, June 14: American Legion Flag Ceremony. Friday, June 15: Father’s Day Tribute. Your Vermont State Medicaid insurance might pay for your attendance at Bennington Project Independence. Neighbor to Neighbor

On May 24, Neighbor to Neighbor feted the retiring Patti Cody and her Arlington High School and Middle School Chorus for Patti’s final concert as conductor of this lively group of singers. It was a wonderful concert. Patti will be missed both by N2N and her students. The musical presentation was followed by a celebratory cake and punch. To volunteer as a caregiver for Neighbor to Neighbor, or if you know of someone who could benefit from their services, call 802-367-7787.

Rupert Leisures

The Rupert Leisures cordially invite you to their June luncheon at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 13, at the Rupert Firehouse. Chef Mike McKeighan will offer a menu of spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread and green salad. Donations of desserts are encouraged. Flag Day and Fathers’ Day will be recognized. Bring pictures of fathers and grandfathers with labels to identify them. A donation of $4.50 is welcomed. Arlington Senior Lunch

VFW Lunch Bunch

All seniors who want to have lunch at the VFW on Wednesday, June 27, are reminded that lunch is by reservation only. Please call Marian Haines at 802-258-8240. Information on the menu and program will be available next week. RSVP by Monday, June 25.

Rutland Song Circle

A song circle and jam session will be held  from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, at the Godnick Adult Center in Rutland. The song circle welcomes singers, players of acoustic instruments and listeners. Fiddlers are especially welcome. A songbook of popular folksongs encourages group singing. Donations appreciated.
