Enjoy a Pink Martini at Rutland’s Paramount Theatre
The Paramount Theatre in Rutland welcomes the biggest little orchestra around: Pink Martini featuring lead singer Storm Large, on Friday, March 11, at 8 p.m. Bandleader Thomas Lauderdale founded Pink Martini in 1994 to provide more beautiful and inclusive musical soundtracks for political fundraisers – for causes such as civil rights, affordable housing, the environment, libraries, public broadcasting, education and parks. Drawing inspiration from music from all over the world, the orchestra crosses genres of classical, jazz and old-fashioned pop. “If the United Nations had a house band in 1962, hopefully we’d be that band,” comments Lauderdale, who is also a pianist.
The group tours the world, singing in 22 languages at opera houses, concert halls, film festivals, museums and fashion shows, and was inducted into both the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame and the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2014.
Tickets are available in advance at the Box Office located at 30 Center Street in downtown Rutland, by phoning the venue Box Office at 802-775-0903, online at paramountvt.org or at the door if still available.
