Thanks to a generous donation from the Board of Directors and the homeowners of Equinox on the Battenkill, the Manchester Community Library has been able to purchase sets of several of the most popular children’s book series. Many of these titles were enthusiastically recommended by second grade students at Maple Street School. EOB’s gift enables the Library to enhance its Juvenile collection just in time for summer reading, the importance of which cannot be overstated. Research shows that children who don’t read over the summer experience summer learning loss, while summer reading keeps kids growing. Kids can come to the Library throughout the summer to register for the Summer Reading Program, sponsored by Mother Myrick’s Confectionery and the Northshire Bookstore, and read to earn free raffle tickets good for many of the fantastic prize baskets on display.
