Equinox Terrace Invites Public to Enter Tree Decorating Contest
To add some extra cheerfulness to the holiday season, Equinox Terrace will host a fun, interactive seasonal tradition, when local businesses, schools, organizations and individuals are invited to participate in the ‘Parade of Trees’ tree decorating competition. Members of the public are asked to purchase and decorate a two-foot, artificial Christmas tree and bring it to Equinox Terrace to compete for a cash prize. The trees will be on display in the community, and members of the public are welcome to come out and vote for their favorite. First place receives $200, second place $150 and third place $100. In addition, Equinox Terrace will donate $50 to each winner’s favorite local charity. Competitors’ entries will be accepted at Equinox Terrace, 324 Equinox Terrace Road, between Monday, December 7, and Friday, December 11. The winners will be announced during a special party at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19.
“This is the second year we’ve done a holiday-themed competition,” said Ann Bouza, executive director of Equinox Terrace. “Last year we did a gingerbread house competition and had a wonderful response from the outside community; the residents just loved seeing the beautiful creations on display. We’re so excited to see what people come up with for this new twist on our contest. It just doesn’t feel like the holidays without a Christmas tree, and we know that all of these trees will get everyone into the spirit of the holidays.” For information on how you can participate, call 802-362-5141.
