Families in Need ‘Shop’ for Free at Green Mountain Christian Center
Green Mountain Christian Center announced its eighth annual Toy Give-Away. “Thanks to the generosity of many in our local and surrounding communities, ‘A Green Mountain Christmas’ continues to meet a huge practical need during the holiday season each year, stated senior pastor John Goyette. “On average, parents from 250 families visit our Gift Room. Approximately 500 children from throughout the southwestern Vermont region and beyond enjoy a cheerier Christmas because people are willing to help.”
The event takes place on Friday and Saturday, December 11 and 12, at 440 Main Street in Bennington, when parents in need can shop the Gift Room without cost for new items for their children. While parents visit the Gift Room and have their selections wrapped, their children can enjoy crafts, Christmas music, freshly baked cookies and milk or cider.”
Goyette added, “Over the years, many parents have told us that these gifts are the only presents they are able to give their children; and if it were not for ‘A Green Mountain Christmas,’ those children would not have any toys for Christmas. It is our hope that the wonderful people in the Bennington area are willing once again to help us brighten Christmas for area families by contributing a monetary donation to this event.”
Donations are not used for administrative expenses, but to help stock the Gift Room for the 1,500 needed toys and gifts. Registration for parents in need is now open; call 802-447-7224.
