Film Screening to Raise Funds for Planned Parenthood
An intimate screening of the documentary, ‘Break the Silence,’ featuring honest accounts of sexual and reproductive health histories, will show at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, at the Manchester Library. Produced and directed by Vermont filmmaker Willow O’Feral, this documentary features powerful interviews with 18 Vermonters who are asked to describe experiences with puberty, early sexual contact, birth control, abortion, gender transition, sex education, STIs, pregnancy and more. Their answers clarify the vast inequities of people’s experiences, and expose the shame and humiliation still preserved within our culture. A facilitated Q&A with participants from the film will follow. The event is hosted by Planned Parenthood Defenders group of Brattleboro, and is not sponsored or endorsed by the Manchester Community Library. Tickets are a suggested donation of $10 and up. All proceeds will benefit Planned Parenthood of Northern New England’s Health Centers of Southern Vermont in Bennington, Rutland and Brattleboro.
