In recognition of National Fire Prevention Week, the Arlington Fire Department visited Fisher Elementary School to teach students about fire safety. After the morning fire drill, Fisher students and staff gathered in the Mack Multi-purpose Room to learn about the importance of having smoke detectors, knowing to call 9-1-1 and practicing stop, drop and roll. The firefighters spoke of the importance of kids not hiding during a fire, so Fisher staff Lindsay Bierwirth and Zach Thompson donned firefighter suits and equipment to show students what to expect in a fire emergency. Later, students were given a tour of the fire trucks.
