‘Fit at the Farmers Market’
Please join North Berkshire Mass in Motion and the many people, places and organizations that make the north Berkshires a healthy place to live, work and play on Saturday August 31, at the North Adams Farmers Market, from 9 to 1. This event is free and open to the public. Purchases can be made to support local farmers at the market.
Take the opportunity to meet, interact and learn from our healthy community participants that embrace and encourage healthy eating and active living. Offering opportunities for physical fitness at the market will be a mini ‘NA Fitness with Beth’ session at 9, a mini Yoga session at 10, a mini Zumba session at 11:15, and a 5k Market in Motion Fun Run/Walk at 12:00. Fit WIC will provide opportunities for parents and children to be active together; Child Care of the Berkshires is offering a Story Walk of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ — both fun ways for families to be active together. There will be a variety of healthy food demos, samplings and free nutrition and wellness consultations. Berkshire Health Systems Community Outreach Van will be at the market to offer free health screenings. There will also be massage therapists present offering free chair massages. Participants attending ‘Fit at the Farmers Market’ share the same goals as North Berkshire Mass in Motion; lowering and preventing obesity and the chronic diseases associated with it.
Come support your local farmers, artisans and those in the community that work to provide health and wellness and get fit at the farmers market! This event is sponsored by nbCC and North Berkshire Mass in Motion. For more information please contact Amanda Chilson at 413-663-7588 Ext. 16, or email [email protected]
