Film Explores History of Co-ops
The Cambridge Food Co-op is hosting the acclaimed documentary, ‘Food for Change’ at the Freight Depot at Hubbard Hall in Cambridge, N.Y., on Thursday, February 21, at 7 p.m. The cost is $8 for members and $10 for non-members. The film offers rare archival footage, graphics and interviews about the nation’s longest-surviving alternative economic system, a social movement based on the principles of cooperation. Internationally-acclaimed filmmaker Steve Alves narrates the film he directed. Food co-ops introduced whole and organic foods to Americans in the ‘70s; today they are the champions of local food systems.
