Forest Consortium to Meet
The Bennington County Sustainable Forest Consortium (BCSFC) is a collaboration between landowners, foresters, loggers and other natural resource professionals, facilitating the exchange of ideas and experiences to encourage people to care about our forests. The group meets quarterly to engage and inform participants on issues, initiatives, projects and opportunities within the region’s forests.
The first meeting for 2016 is scheduled for Thursday, April 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. It will be held at the Manchester Community Library at 138 Cemetery Avenue, at the corner of Main Street/Route 7A, Manchester Center. The focus of this meeting is ‘Everything Green Mountain National Forest.’ The public is invited to come and learn something about the work being done on the forest and meet some of the folks helping to make it happen.
Since its inception in 2007, the BCSFC has workshops on topics ranging from the emerald tree borer and the effect of earthworms on forest soils to fruit tree pruning and living with black bears. The consortium is always looking for topics and speakers to appeal to those who value our region’s ecosystems. To learn more, visit bccdvt.org.
