A Dock Diving Competition offers fun for dogs and people – and the chance to help Nathan Whitehorne.

The Foundry Fly Dogs will jump into action on Saturday, June 28, in a competition to benefit Nathan Whitehorne, owner of 4Paws Academy, who was seriously injured in a car accident. The event takes place at the Foundry at Summit Pond in Killington, Vt. and features canine athletes making long jumps and big splashes – the first of four Foundry Fly Dogs events scheduled for 2014. This newly established group of local dock-diving dogs and their owners enjoy the wet and wild world of competitive dock-diving. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.; practice jumps at 10. Qualifier events take place at 11 and 1 p.m. Dogs will compete in Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels. The longest jumpers in the Qualifiers move onto the final round at 3. The top three jumps in each bracket will take home a ribbon.

Dog owners should bring crates, water, throwing toys, baggies and leashes and must complete a waiver. All dogs are to be crated or on four-foot leashes when not jumping.

Additional Foundry Fly Dog Events are scheduled for Saturday, July 26; Saturday, September 13, and Saturday, October 11. The Foundry at Summit Pond is located on the Killington Road in Killington. For more information, call 802-422-5335.
