Free Books For Kids
Shire Kids has launched the Imagination Library, a book-gifting program that mails free books to children from birth to age five. Dolly Parton started the Imagination Library in 1995 for children in her home county. Today, the program spans five countries and mails over one million free books each month to children around the world. Shire Kids is bringing the Imagination Library to Bennington County thanks to the Stratton Foundation, Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, Vermont Country Store, Stewarts Shops and Lawrence Property Management. Every child enrolled in the program will receive a free book mailed to their home each month. There are no other qualifications besides residence (Bennington County and in Danby) and age (birth to five years). To register, visit shirekidsvt.org.
