Freedom 5K Run/Walk
The Freedom 5K Run/Walk and Kid’s Fun Run kicks off the third annual Cancer Center Community Crusaders Remembrance Day, a fun, themed 3.1 mile run/walk through historic Old Bennington on Saturday, June 4. Proceeds stay local and benefit the Southwestern Vermont Cancer Center. The event begins at SVMC and follows along Monument Avenue past historical sites such as the Old First Church and Old Centre Cemetery (the final resting place of Robert Frost), the Walloomsac Inn and Village Lion Fountain, the Old Academy and Catamount Tavern and the culminating turn-around point of the Bennington Battle Monument. Optional Revolutionary costumes to add to the fun! The one-mileKid’s Fun Run will be held on hospital grounds. Registration is $20 if done ahead at runreg.com. Paper registrations can be found at the Bennington Rescue Squad, Optionz Health and Fitness, Training for More and at the Cancer Center. Day-of registration is $25. On-site registration and check-in opens at 7:45 a.m. on race day. The Kid’s Fun Run is $10, paid day-of only, and begins at 9 a.m. The 5K begins at 10. Post-race be sure to stick around for the fun!
