of Manchester.

Don’t miss the Garden Club of Manchester’s ‘All Things Gardening’ annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine. This event will be held at Northshire Day School, located at 5484 Main Street/Route 7A in Manchester Center. Hardy perennials from members’ gardens, as well as geraniums, marigolds and a few vegetable plants, will be for sale at very reasonable prices (half price at noon!) along with all things gardening – tools, pots, books, ornaments. New this year will be a sale of baked goods. All proceeds fund the Club’s civic beautification projects and scholarship program.

Members of the Garden Club of Manchester design, plant and maintain baskets, boxes and planters in Manchester and Dorset. They also design and maintain parts of the Manchester Town Green, and this year were instrumental in the replanting of the gardens at the Dorset Town Office. Members create weekly floral arrangements for the Manchester Community Library and the main hall of Yester House at the Southern Vermont Arts Center. They also maintain the Botany Trail at SVAC, and will be making and hanging wreaths in the Town Offices, the Library and area churches in Manchester and Dorset for the 25th year this fall. The Club has provided scholarships to Smokey House Center and the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps that benefit projects related to horticulture and the environment, and scholarships are awarded each year to graduating high school seniors pursuing an education in environmental studies, agribusiness, botany or any related course of study.
