Gardenworks of Salem to Host a Cheese Tasting and Talk
Gardenworks of Salem, Murray’s Cheese Shop of Manhattan and Putnam Market of Saratoga Springs will host a cheese workshop at 2 on Saturday and Sunday, September 7 and 8. The workshop takes place at Gardenworks in Salem. Ideas for cooking with and serving cheese will be presented. The free talk, part of the annual Washington County Cheese Tour, includes samples of imported, domestic and local cheeses.
Murray’s is New York City’s oldest cheese shop and features a variety of cheeses from around the world, including artisanal cheeses made domestically. Murray’s recently built a cheese cave and began making their own cheese, which participants will be invited to sample.
Putnam Market, a specialty food store, is co-owned by Catherine Hamilton, who will talk about cooking with cheese, with recipes and samples created in her specialty food shop.
Rob Southerland of Gardenworks will share ideas for creating interesting cheese plates with fruits, jams, nuts and honey. Gardenworks supports local cheese-makers and features local products in their marketplace, along with quality cheese from other locales.
