‘Gear Up For Lyme’ Mount Equinox Bike Climb
The Rotary Club of Manchester, Vt. announces that registration is open for the 11th annual ‘Gear Up for Lyme’ Mount Equinox Uphill Bike Climb, to be held Saturday, August 2, at Mount Equinox Skyline Drive. Riders will challenge a 5.4 mile course rising 3200 vertical feet , making the ‘Gear Up for Lyme’ Mount Equinox Uphill Bike Climb one of the toughest climbs in the area. The Mount Equinox event is one of the series of hill climbs making up the Bike Up the Mountain Points Series (BUMPS), a summer-long series that includes hill climbs at Wachusett, Mount Ascutney, Whiteface, Mount Washington, Mount Greylock and Mount Kearsarge.
The Rotary Club of Manchester is presenting this event as a fundraiser to benefit the Lyme Disease Association (LDA) and the local charities of the Rotary Club. The LDA supports research and treatment of Lyme Disease that affects thousands throughout the United States, especially New England. According the statistics from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Vermont ranks second in the country for reported incidence of Lyme Disease.
