Generous Donations Fund LTS Edinburgh Trip
Fifteen Long Trail School students will travel to Edinburgh, Scotland to perform at the world-renowned Fringe Festival in August 2014, thanks in part to a very generous anonymous donation. The Long Trail School drama program was selected by the American High School Theatre Festival to represent the United States. Each August, thousands of actors, directors, writers, producers and theatregoers converge in Edinburgh to participate in the world’s largest and most prestigious performing arts festival.
Over the next year, the students and their parents will be hosting or participating in local events to raise funds for their adventure. In addition to transportation and accommodation costs, the participation fee includes a workshop at the Globe Theatre in London, tickets to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and field trips to historic sites. The initial fundraiser will be at the Norman’s Attic street fair in Arlington on August 3; students will sell bags of animal treats and handmade crafts. Contributions and donations toward the students’ trip are welcome. Checks should be made payable to Long Trail School (Fringe in memo) and addressed to Laura Heinel, Business Office, Long Trail School, 1045 Kirby Hollow Road, Dorset, Vt. 05251. Phone 867-5717.
