Grafton Lakes Polar Plunge

Registrations are now being accepted for the Polar Plunge at Grafton Lakes State Park, taking place during Winter Fest on Saturday, January 23. Participants will take turns jumping in to the frigid water while the New York State Police Ice Dive team provide safety. Spectators are welcome and provide a nice wind block for the event. This year, the Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park will provide a fun prize for Silliest Costume, but come in whatever swim attire you like.The Plunge will raise funds for the food pantry of Our Lady of the Snow Parish. The event is open to the first 50 people who pre-register. The fee is $20 and includes a T-shirt and hot drink. For an application, contact Maureen Cox, Our Lady of the Snow Parish, 518-281-6575.

The 31st annual Winter Festival will also include horse-drawn carriage rides through the wintry landscape, Newfoundland sled dog rides, kids’ contests, indoor exhibits, guided outings and much more, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Ice Fishing Contest is open to kids and adults, with registration starting at 5:30 a.m. For more information, visit and look up Grafton Lakes State Park or call 518-279-1155.
