Healthy Environment/Healthy Kids
Do you know if private and public places near you are being treated with pesticides? Are you aware of how your neighbors treat their lawns? And if you are using any pesticides in your own back yard, do you know what the repercussions are for the well-being of your children, your grandchildren, your pets and yourselves? New studies are coming out that glyphosate-containing herbicides are a cause of concern for the health of our environment – our soil and water – and for all of us who are exposed to the residues of pesticides. Most of us have heard or read that our bees and beneficial pollinators are disappearing due to the increased and pervasive use of pesticides that are readily available, like Monsanto’s Roundup. Insects are vulnerable, and so are our children when they are exposed to the toxins we use in our private and public spaces. Talk to your schools, your town officials, your golf club managers, your neighbors and ask questions. Discover ways to apply healthier lawn and plant care methods and advocate for a healthier environment in which our children and all of nature can thrive. This message is apart of an ongoing Education Project of Transition Town Manchester.
